The team then plays another game against an okay team. Lonnie apologizes about what he says to Cal. Cal is told to have Lonnie sit in the championship game so the bookies can make their money back. Lonnie has little adult supervision but he has values, especially regarding basketball.

Paul starts to get mad and tells Lonnie to stay out of his business. A few weeks ago, Mr. Fast basketball action and sensitive characterization combined with a suspenseful story attracts sports-minded readers.

Lonnie gets angry and Cal says he is leaving. Lonnie feels embarrassed and stupid that he did not wear sneakers or listen to Cal.

Lonnie is now given a second chance when selected to play in a tournament to show everyone he can succeed in NCAA College Basketball and go to college but is faced with many problems along his way. Later he enlisted in the army, got married, had a child, went through a turbulent creative struggle, got divorced, got married again—and during all of this, kept writing, whether his work pleased him or not.

I enjoyed reading the book, and the book always had a twist that made the book hard to put down. Do Lonnie's values vary depending on what's at stake?

They get into fights often however. He frequently writes about children who share similar economic and ethnic situations with his own childhood. I also think that anyone that likes competiton or sports would enjoy reading this as well.

He escaped, but he never forgot the incident. I also like the scandal they add in this book. Also, Lonnie doubts his new coach at first, but he begins to appreciate what he has learned coach has done in the past for other players.

There is some violence in this book and some language however some people like that in the story and it will make them want to read more.The book "Hoops" was a absolutely fantastic book. When I looked at its cover I thought it would be full of sports action, but it is not full of all basketball.
